DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
DeKalb County police say two suspects nearly ran over a county police officer during an attempted traffic stop Sunday afternoon. Police were called out to a gas station on Columbia Drive near Interstate 20 to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle, and when they got there, an investigator says the suspects got in their vehicle and tried to run over the officer in their way.
"She could have actually been injured severely, or killed, by the motor vehicle driving toward her," said Sgt. C.D. Swain with the DeKalb County police.
He said the officer was able to dive out of the way and fire one shot on the car. Her fellow officer also fired their weapon, but the suspects got away and led police on a brief chase. Swain said one of the suspects was quickly caught, but the other is still at large.
