ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
CBS Atlanta's Adam Murphy teamed up with Fifth Group Restaurants to host a charity dine-out this week at South City Kitchen in the Vinings.
The event helped raise money and awareness for a rare brain disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, also known as PSP.
Adam's mom, Janice, was diagnosed with it two years ago and is currently battling the horrible effects of the disease.
PSP is a neurodegenerative brain disease that has no known cause, treatment or cure. It affects nerve cells that control walking, balance, mobility, vision, speech and swallowing.
"Thank you to everyone who has supported my pursuit to find a cure for my mom and anyone else that has to live with PSP," Murphy said.
More than 200 people dined out for the cause, raising more than $1,000. Adam has also raised more than $500 online to help find a cure.
"I sincerely appreciate those of you that have shown your support! This has been a humbling experience," Murphy said.
