Hall County confirms 17th rabies case of 2012

HALL COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Hall County officials are issuing a rabies alert after capturing a skunk that tested positive for rabies - the 17th confirmed case of the year.

A skunk with a suspected case of rabies was captured after it came into contact with two dogs in the Tony Peck Road area of Murrayville. 

On Tuesday, the skunk was sent to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur, where it tested positive for rabies.

Hall County officials will be posting rabies alert signs in the area where the skunk was found.

If you see an animal acting abnormally in the area, call Hall County Animal Services at 770-536-8812.
