Thomas Heath
COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
On Tuesday Marietta police officers arrested a suspect who was wanted in connection with a stolen car and was a person of interest in a possible kidnapping and homicide in Florida.
Officers were called to the Ramada Inn on Delk Road to meet with a victim of an apparent kidnapping.
Officers met with the suspect's wife who stated that she and her two young children, ages 1 and 2, had just fled from her husband Thomas Heath.
The woman said Heath allegedly kidnapped them at knife point from Orange County, FL several days ago.
The victim stated that they had traveled to Georgia when their vehicle, which was stolen out of Florida, had broken down in the middle of I-75 near Delk Road and was impounded by police.
After abandoning their vehicle, the victims escaped from Heath as he walked away for a moment.
The woman told police she suspected her husband had committed a murder in Orange County, and that was why he was running.
Patrol Officers of the Marietta Police Department performed an extensive search of the area and arrested Heath near the Ramada Inn.
