New details have been released about the man who opened fire on police outside the Empire State building last week, including where he graduated from high school.
Jeffrey Johnson graduated from Gainesville High School in 1971.
After fatally shooting a co-worker, he began firing at police officers. Those officers fired back but hit nine bystanders, none of whom were fatally injured.
Johnson's mother, who still lives in Georgia, said officers were justified when they fired back at her son, killing him.
Johnson's mother also said her son learned to be an expert marksman while serving in the Coast Guard, and told the New York Times that he was, quote, "diminished tenfold" after his cat died.
