CARROLL COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The mother of a woman who pleaded guilty to the murder of a University of West Georgia student has also pleaded guilty to charges relating to the student's death.
On Monday, Christine Strength pleaded guilty to concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence and making a false statement to police, following the murder of 21-year-old Marcelle "Marcy" Elliott.
Elliott was reported missing in July 2010. Her body was later found in a wooded area in Carroll County.
Strength's daughter, Farrah Strength, and Joshua Clay were both arrested on murder charges for Elliot's death, several weeks after Elliot's body was found.
According to police, Farrah Strength and Elliott used to be friends, but had a falling out.
Investigators said they believed Farrah Strength and Clay lured Elliott to Carrollton, where they strangled her and then dumped her body.
In March 2011, Farrah Strength pleaded guilty to malice murder and false imprisonment. She was sentenced to life in prison, plus 10 years, with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
Clay pleaded guilty to concealing Elliott's death and tampering with evidence in January 2012. He was sentenced to serve seven years in prison and 13 years on probation.
Investigators said Christine Strength was charged in connection to Elliot's murder because she knew what her daughter had done, and covered it up.
Christine Strength was sentenced to serve six years in jail and another nine years on probation.
