GAINESVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The Hall County Sheriff's Office has identified a body found in a heavily wooded area along the shoreline of Lake Lanier Saturday morning.
The body is that of a missing teen who lives in an apartment complex near the crime scene.
Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, Hall County Sheriff's spokesperson, told CBS Atlanta that they identified the victim as Hannah Truelove, 16.
Truelove, a Gainesville High School student, was reported missing by her mother on August 23 around 7 a.m. Her body was later discovered Friday evening in a wooded area behind the Lake Lanier Club Apartments.
Investigators worked through the night and morning collecting evidence in this case. They plan to canvas the neighborhood to gather additional leads in the case.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is assisting in the investigation.
