Atlanta police Friday morning were still looking for a man they said tried to kidnap a little girl. It happened on Parkway, near Angier, close to several schools.
The girl's mother said the 7-year-old was walking home with her 12-year-old sister and 9-year-old friend Wednesday evening, just before eight.
The girls told police the man slowed his truck down and asked where they were going. They continued walking, but the man then jumped out of his truck.
The girls' mother, who didn't want to reveal her identity in order to keep her kids safe, said the man then covered her youngest daughter's mouth, so she wouldn't scream, and tried to snatch her. However, the older girls jumped into action."
"My oldest daughter and the other kid pulled the her arm to keep her from getting in the car." All three girls escaped uninjured and ran home.
Nervous parents Friday morning walked their children to school.
"I was really shocked because it's really close to school and a lot of kids walk home," said Sylvia Warren who has a nine-year-old son.
The man is described as around 50 years old, 6'1" tall and 200 pounds.
He was driving a black full-sized pickup truck with silver rims that possibly had spinners. The rear window of the truck had decals of flames or lightning bolts that were red and orange.
The girl's mother said her daughter is doing better after the frightening ordeal. She said her daughters are no longer allowed to walk home without an adult.
