Eric Carr during his arrest in 2010.
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Just minutes before the murder trial of an Atlanta bakery owner was set to begin, the suspect confessed and pleaded guilty.
Eric Carr admitted that he shot Michael Moore during a robbery in October 2010.
Carr said he went to Sunset Thrifty Bakery and Meats on Roosevelt Highway to confront Moore about short-changing his girlfriend.
According to police, Carr entered the store, pulled out a gun and demanded money from a clerk. They said she handed over the cash and the suspect started to leave.
Police said Moore walked out from the back and that is when Carr opened fire.
"Michael threw his hands up and said, 'What did I do?'" Jameelah Roebuck told CBS Atlanta News at the time of the shooting. "The guy just shot him."
Roebuck said that she was quite shaken by the holdup.
"I thought I was next. I didn't expect him to shoot him," Roebuck said. "His face is forever stuck in my head. Forever."
A judge sentenced Carr to two consecutive life sentences plus 15 years.
