SW Atlanta shooting death a mystery

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

It's been nearly a month since Jordan "Timmy" Ashley was shot and killed on Danforth Road in southwest Atlanta, and his family still hurts.

"I just miss my son. He's not around, I can't speak to him anymore and you see reminders of him all over the house. It's just a vacant spot that is pretty hard to fill," said Michael Ashley, Jordan Ashley's father.

Police say Jordan Ashley was just blocks from his home when he was robbed and attacked by three men. Investigators have released sketches of two people they want to talk to.

On Thursday, Atlanta and the Fulton County police departments teamed up to canvas the neighborhood hoping to get new clues in the case.

"This is a busy street; however, it is a thoroughfare and there are not a lot of residential homes in the area. That is why we are going to spread out and go to properties and communities close by to do the door-to-door canvas," said Lt. Paul Guerrucci with the Atlanta Police Department.

His family says Jordan Ashley was working at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport and saving money so he could buy a car and head back to school. They say he wanted to become a marine biologist. Police say the gunmen robbed a family of a good young man.

"We have lived in this neighborhood for 17 years and we've had no incidents of this type. People who have lived here 30 to 40 years and have had no violence like this. This has really devastated all of us," said Michael Ashley.

Crime Stoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The hope is someone will come forward and claim it.

"This has really shaken the whole community, including us. We need to have these guys and send a message that we are not going to accept this in our community," said Michael Ashley.
