DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Nearly 100 people gathered to mourn 23-year-old Michael Hampton; he was shot to death in his own yard on Clifton Farm Drive in Decatur last week.
"Stop the violence, stop the killing and let's start the healing," said Michael Hampton's uncle, Melvin Hampton to the crowd of mourners. "Martin Luther King did not die for this, OK? He died to give us a chance out here in life."
Michael Hampton had just graduated from Job Corp in April and was supposed to begin a new job this week, but he was gunned down in his own front yard last Thursday. Police are still hunting for his killer.
"He was a good kid, and like I said last week, a piece of my heart is gone but he's not forgotten," said Michael Hampton's aunt, Alice Strong.
Detectives are working on leads, but they could still use your help. If you have any information you're urged to call police.
