Douglas County women followed from store, robbed

Posted: Updated:
DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Douglas County sheriff's deputies say three men captured on surveillance video are not your average Walmart shoppers.

"You can tell that they went into Walmart looking for someone to rob," said Trent Wilson, an investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff's office.

Investigators said it didn't take long for the men to find their targets, a mother and her daughter doing some late night shopping.

"While the victims are at the register paying for their items, you see the three men. They look directly at the victims, circle around and actually sit down and wait for them to finish paying for their items," said Wilson.

Detectives said shortly after the victims leave, the robbers follow.

"The the suspects get in their car, pull in the parking isle where the victims are and then when the victims leave they leave behind them," said Wilson.

Detectives said the crooks followed the unsuspecting victims to their home about 11 miles away. Once there, investigators said one of the men went inside the victim's home while the two women were unloading groceries.

"The victim's mother went in and the subject with the sweatshirt on comes in, puts the gun directly to the victim's mother's head and demands what they had in their pockets," Wilson said.

Deputies said the trio got away with a purse, some cash and a cell phone which was later thrown away. Deputies hope someone will recognize the three men or the getaway car and come forward.

"The car looks like it is a Volvo or maybe a BMW," Wilson said.

If you have any information on these men, please call Investigator Trent Wilson at 770-920-4907 or dispatch at 770-949-5656.
