CARROLLTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A former University of West Georgia student is preparing for a showdown with university officials that will decide whether she graduates.

On Thursday, Patrice Samm will appear in front of a university panel that will decide if she graduates from the school's Education Specialist Program.

Samm, who had a 4.0 GPA, said she was weeks away from graduating from the program when she learned her professor planned to fail her if she did not withdraw from the program.

CBS Atlanta Reporter Bernard Watson first told you about the situation in June. At the time, the university said it could not talk about the situation because Samm had not gone through the appeal process and because of privacy concerns. Since then, the university has ruled against Samm in two of the three appeals and Samm has given officials from the university permission to discuss why she may fail despite her high GPA.

Watson spoke to Samm and is heading to Carrollton to ask university officials Tough Questions about the appeal process. You can see his report on CBS Atlanta News at 4 p.m.
