ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The 911 calls have been released in an early Wednesday morning crash on GA 400 killed two people and critically injured one other.

Atlanta Police said a wrong-way driver struck another vehicle on GA 400 just south of Lenox Road.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows Frampere Ingle, 24, entered the highway from Lenox Road and traveled south in the northbound lanes.

Ingle crashed head-on into a car driven by Eric Hanks.

Hanks died at the scene. Ingle was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and later died from her injuries.

The passenger in Ingle's car, Beyonica Watts, is listed in critical condition with severe injuries. Police said neither women were wearing seatbelts.

"I don't know what lane he was traveling in," said Officer Kim Jones. "I don't know if he saw them at the last minute where he could not get over or get out of the way or maybe they both swerved at the same time."

Police said the Lenox Road on and off ramps are clearly marked. They are now investigating whether alcohol may have been a factor in this accident.

"I don't think it's confusing, but if you are intoxicated, it could be confusing," said Jones. "There are signs posted on every exit when you're getting on and getting off. Most exits that lead to the freeway tell you if you're traveling the wrong way."

GA 400 was closed for several hours while police investigated.
