MABLETON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The co-owner of Tire Tech in Mableton, Cobb County said it was by the grace of God that he is alive to tell his story.
On Saturday, the victim who did not want his name used said two men came into the store around 4 p.m. and jumped him.
"I struggled with them for about five seconds, then he pulled the gun," he said. "When they pulled the gun, the big dude held me, and pushed me into store. I told them, ‘Get the money. It's in my pocket, leave me alive.'"
The man was then taken to a back room and tied up. After the two robbers took the money, the victim was told to lay down.
"He put the gun to the front of my head and pulled the trigger twice. Click, click. The gun didn't go off. Two times, the gun clicked and jammed. Then he used the gun to slam it on my head."
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was given multiple stitches for two gashes on his head.
After he was struck by the butt of the gun, the victim said he got up as the men fled the store and was able to see their car's license plate. He described the car as a light brown Mitsubishi Montero.
"I can describe that car to police, and identify both men once police catch them," he said.
Cobb County Police said they continue to follow up on strong leads.
The victim said he is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
