COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A Cobb County woman wants answers after she purchased an online deal for a restaurant that won't honor her gift certificate.
Carol Galbreath bought what she thought was a dining deal on restaurant.com.
The website offered her a $15 savings to dine at Thai Ginger in Acworth.
"It says this restaurant gift certificate does not expire, but that is not the case," Galbreath said.
Galbreath said when she ordered her meal and then presented the gift certificate, she found out the restaurant wouldn't honor it.
"I was disappointed that the restaurant and the manager, particularly, would not honor something that I had purchased," Galbreath said.
Restaurant.com states that their deals are always available and never expire.
So CBS Atlanta News asked management at the restaurant Tough Questions about why the gift certificate wasn't honored if it isn't supposed to expire.
"The contract (with restaurant.com) is year-by-year and we were not happy with it, so I cancelled it," Thai Ginger management said.
CBS Atlanta News next asked management whether or not Galbreath was stuck with the bill.
No, I'm not going to answer you. No, I'm sorry," Thai Ginger Management said.
CBS Atlanta News also called restaurant.com to get their side of the story. They said they will be contacting Galbreath to resolve the matter. One thing they plan to do is provide her with a gift certificate to another restaurant that will accept the deal.
So what has Galbreath learned from this experience?
"Call the restaurant in advance and make sure that they will indeed honor the gift card," Galbreath said.
