ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
About 300 people gathered Saturday night in Centennial Olympic Park to pray for the victims and families affected by the shooting spree in Wisconsin last Sunday.
The deadly rampage happened at a Sikh temple in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek, and left six people dead.
The suspect, Wade Michael Page, was shot and killed on-site by a police officer. Page was an Army veteran with a checkered past, and was thought to be a white supremacist.
Members of the Sikh community, along with leaders from other religious communities, led the service Saturday night in downtown Atlanta.
"It's an experience that has kind of unified our Sikh community across the nation," said vigil organizer Harmeet Kaur.
"We don't think everybody is out to get us. We don't think there's a huge hatred towards Sikhism," Kaur said. "Are we afraid of something like this happening again? No, because we are strong in that using this as an outlet to educate others, we can stop that."
