East Point residents want to oust mayor

EAST POINT, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

People living in East Point want their mayor out of office, and they're asking the court system to help.

Mayor Earnestine Pittman has been at the center of many controversies, including issues involving utility rates, the paving of city streets and ethics complaints.

Friday, some of her opponents went to Fulton County Superior Court and filed a lawsuit that seeks to have her removed from office.

Pittman's opponents said she has repeatedly violated her oath of office and is unfit to be mayor.
