Rebekka Schramm/CBS Atlanta- Passengers wait for buses at the Arts Center station.
A "bus bridge" was established for riders to get around Lindbergh Center station.
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Hundreds of MARTA rail riders were late for work Thursday because of an electrical problem at the Lindbergh transit station.
The 5:30 a.m. outage lasted for an hour and a half during the height of the morning commute.
Electrical service to the station was restored just before 7 a.m., but by that time, the damage was done.
MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said the transit agency ran a "bus bridge" between the Lenox and Buckhead stations to the Arts Center station and vice versa. That caused a ripple effect of delays.
Brett Gibson was unable to take the southbound train into midtown. Then his "bridge" bus got stuck in traffic.
"I'm late for a couple of my clients," he said.
"Everyone is trying to get onto the train and trying to get onto the buses," said another man.
MARTA officials were trying to figure out what caused the outage. Check back with CBSAtlanta.com for updates.
