Sikh restaurant owner takes extra precautions after Wisconsin shooting

DULUTH, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A Gwinnett County restaurant owner plans to be extra vigilant after the deadly shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on Sunday.

Navraj Singh Banga, owner of Lajawaab Indian Cuisine in Duluth, said he is saddened by the act of violence and concerned for his family.

"I'm not going out anywhere and I'm not letting my kids out, just because of this," Banga said.

Banga thought about having his kids skip the first day of school.

"I told them not to go to school today but they said, 'no, we'll be fine dad, so we can go.' You never know, if one person can do it there, other can do it here too. It can happen anywhere in the world," Banga said.

Banga and those in the Sikh faith wear outward symbols that he said are at the core of the religion. The most recognizable, a turban on the head and a kara around the wrist. He hopes no one anywhere is targeted again because of their appearance or beliefs.

"We all live in peace and harmony and we all should pray for everyone. We hope this doesn't happen again ever," Banga said.

Members of the temple Banga attends in Norcross plan to march with candles at Centennial Olympic Park on Saturday to honor and pray for the victims.
