A Hall County grand jury has indicted a 44-year-old boat driver who was involved in a double fatal crash on Lake Lanier.
Paul Bennett's charges included first-degree homicide by vessel, boating under the influence and refusing to surrender aid, according to the indictment.
Two brothers, 9-year-old Jake Prince and 13-year-old Griffin Prince, were killed in the accident that occurred on June 8.
Police said Griffin was thrown overboard after Bennett's boat slammed into the boat in which he was riding. His body was recovered from the lake by divers 10 days after the accident. Jake was killed at the scene of the crash.
Department of Natural Resources officers arrested Bennett several hours after the accident at a nearby marina. At the time, he was charged with boating under the influence.
Bennett initially bonded out of jail on June 19. He was re-booked into the Hall County Jail on Friday. His first court appearance was set for Saturday, where a judge will decide whether or not to set bond.
A memorial fund for Jake and Griffin was set up through Wells Fargo. Donations can be made to account No. 7581668121 in the name of Griffin and Jake Prince.
