RIVERDALE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Layla Constable cannot remember the night of May 5, but she doesn't need to remember to know what happened.
A fire broke out at the family's home where she lived with her father. Neighbors broke through the front door and found Layla unconscious. They pulled her out and she was rushed to the hospital.
"It's very emotional. (Because of them) I am alive." said Constable, 27.
Layla suffered severe burns to her face and torso. She spent almost three months in the hospital before she was able to come home to a cousin's house.
"I have made a remarkable recovery, but I still have a long way to go," said Constable.
Her older sister Tye Constable-Lewis who lives out of state has stayed by her side.
"When she asks for things - that excites me because she can ask," said Constable-Lewis. "I am the oldest. I fix things and I couldn't fix this one."
Their father was trapped in the house and died. Constable has yet to see what's left of the family home.
"I had a dream about my dad. I had a sense of peace and calm about me. I think under all that stress, the Lord just gave it to me," said Constable.
Constable says she's looking forward to thanking the neighbors who saved her life.
"I have so much love for everyone, and I can't thank them enough," said Constable.
