COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The Cobb and Douglas Public Health Board of Health announced the first two human cases of West Nile Virus this year.
A 75-year-old male and 55-year-old female, both Cobb County residents, were hospitalized and released after getting the virus.
Officials say everyone can help by doing simple things to ensure their own backyard is not a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
-Avoid outdoor activity at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
-Dress appropriately when outdoors for long periods of time or when mosquitoes are most active.
-Experts recommend wearing tightly woven light-colored clothing
-Eliminate standing water
