NEW YORK (CBS ATLANTA) -
First it was sugary drinks. Now, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is waging war on baby formula.
Starting Sept. 3, New York City will keep tabs on the number of bottles that hospitals stock and use.
The New York Post is reporting that nurses must document a medical reason for every bottle that a new born receives.
The "Latch on NYC" initiative is an effort to get more new mothers to breastfeed instead of relying on formula.
Twenty-seven of the city's 40 hospitals have also agreed to give up swag bags that sport formula-company logos.
