DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The head of the DeKalb County schools is seeking to fill executive-level jobs in the financially struggling district.
Schools Superintendent Cheryl Atkinson plans to ask the school board to fill several of those jobs during a meeting Monday afternoon in Stone Mountain.
The district is restricting its operations to save $5 million. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Atkinson wants to hire four people to oversee a variety of programs. The school board recently rejected a layoff plan meant to save $20 million.
