ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
One day before voters head to the polls to decide on a controversial one-percent transportation sales tax, supporters are desperate for yes votes.
Recent polls show that most people in metro Atlanta do not support the penny-on-the dollar tax which, if approved, would raise more than $6 billion over the next ten years to pay for 150 transportation projects in the region.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, a Democrat, will join Republican Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal at the state capitol Monday morning for a press event in support of the tax.
Opponents of the tax are planning a press event in the same location of the capitol Immediately afterward.
