Body of missing swimmer recovered from Lake Lanier

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Divers recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing on Lake Lanier Thursday afternoon.

According to Capt. Jason Shivers with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department, a call came in around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday about the missing man at West Bank Park near Buford Dam Road in Forsyth County.

The body of Rodaigo Bernal Prejo was found around 3:45 p.m., less than an hour after he was reported missing.

Prejo was at the park with his family and went under while on the way in to swim. He was recovered approximately 20 yards from the bank in about 11' depth of water.

Prejo was living with family in Cumming.

Divers and firefighters from the Forsyth County Fire Department, the Georgia's Department of Natural Resources and the Gwinnett County Fire Department were at the scene.

They are still investigating.
