HENRY COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 have reopened in Henry County after a tanker truck rolled over around 5:30 Thursday morning.

The accident happened near mile post 215 and blocked traffic for nearly five hours.

Police had to detour traffic off the highway at Exit 216.

The tanker truck was hauling hazardous material. At least 55 gallons of methyl bromide spilled onto the roadway and leaked for hours before crews were able to contain the spill.

The driver told police that he hit debris in the roadway. He was taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital for injuries that were non-life threatening.
