The people who live at the Valley Oaks Apartments at 2400 Johnson Rd. in northeast Atlanta are getting creative with how they use and find their water.
On Monday, water to the complex was shut off to the nearly 200 residents who live there.
"The county cut water to the complex because it posed a risk to the public by flooding the subdivision," DeKalb County representative Burke Brennan said.
Brennan said there is a 6-inch break in the line on the apartment complex's property.
"That is on their property," Brennan said. "It is their responsibility to fix the broken line."
People said they are getting water from nearby apartment complexes and trying to make do with whatever what they can collect.
"We've got a lot of buckets out here," Brandi Saunders said. "All the kids have been walking out with their mothers to get all the water they can to take back to the house. I am upset, I am very upset."
"It's unsanitary for my kids," Britny Landry said. "We can't do dishes, clean and how am I going to tell my 2-year-old he can't use the restroom?"
Saunders said management need to step up.
"We've been going to the office complaining and they aren't doing anything. They wont even come and give us water to flush the toilets with, can't take showers. We've been going to the apartments and the pool just so our kids can get in there," said Saunders.
CBS Atlanta News tried contacting the apartment complex, but have not received a call back.
