Former Gwinnett County deputy charged with sexually assaulting inmate

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A former Gwinnett County sheriff's deputy has been accused of sexually assaulting an inmate that was in his custody on June 3.

Police reports said Deputy Harry J. Breitinger was driving a female inmate from Augusta to the Gwinnett County Adult Detention Center in Lawrenceville when the incident happened.

Breitinger is being held in the Morgan County Sheriff's Office public safety complex without bond.

He resigned from his position with the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.
