CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
More than two months after a Hampton resident reported seeing a gunman pointing a rifle at a school bus, Clayton County police have made an arrest.
They arrested 20-year-old Cordarrius Brewer on Friday after police said he confessed to making the crime up. Brewer is charged with obstruction and making a false report.
But Clayton County Deputy Police Chief told CBS Atlanta News that, despite the false report, he does not consider what happened a false threat, and considers Brewer dangerous.
"If you see someone that's pointing a gun at someone or something you would think that they're probably going to fire," Robinson said. "I would say that the threat was implied in this."
Brewer gave CBS Atlanta News multiple interviews in May, recounting what he claimed he saw.
"I saw this guy in our neighbor's yard, laying down, holding a rifle," Brewer said in May. "I'm chasing the guy, he ditches the rifle, he stops what he's doing and starts running."
Brewer was released on bond on Friday. He may face additional charges.
