MARIETTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Cobb County residents used the rainy Saturday to recycle. Keep Cobb Beautiful hosted an Appliance Amnesty Day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents turned out to turn in broken or unwanted appliances at the county's waste disposal/transfer station on County Services Parkway in Marietta.

KCB accepted many appliances for free, including stoves, dryers, washers, microwaves, dishwashers, water heaters, lawn mowers and outdoor power tools.

Residents disposing of appliances with freon/refrigerant, such as freezers, refrigerators and air conditioning units, paid a $5 disposal processing fee. The normal fee is usually $12.
