CANTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
City leaders in Canton voted to create a new fire district.
The city has grown from 7,500 to 23,000, but had just two fire stations.
The proposal includes a net tax increase of about .25 mils inside the fire district.
The new district would cover the entire city.
Council members approved the measure, but it still has to be signed by the mayor.
