SANDY SPRINGS, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Sandy Springs police said a woman was beaten with a dog's body in what they call one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they've ever seen.

Police said Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo, 27, faces animal cruelty and aggravated assault charges following a fight with his girlfriend, Andrea Jill Armintrout, 40, on May 19 at Foxcroft Condos on Roswell Road.

Armintrout told police Tadeo woke her up, crying, saying that he had been drinking shots of vodka and rum and that he was a failure.

She said he blamed her for his messed up life and went to the kitchen to get another shot.

When she followed him to stop him, Armintrout told police Tadeo grabbed her and then hit her several times in the face.

According to police, Tadeo then went to the dining room where he found the dog under a table. He kicked and stomped the dog and then told Armintrout to get the dog. When she picked the dog up, he grabbed the dog by the back legs and hit her with the dog.

Tadeo then walked outside, police said, and snapped the dog's neck and said, "See, the dog is dead."

When Tadeo went in to take a shower, Armintrout went to a neighbor's home and called the police.

Tadeo was arrested and charged with battery (family violence) and cruelty to animals. The charges were upgraded this week by the Fulton Superior Court to include aggravated assault.
