DULUTH, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Eric Morris took cell phone video of the house where his family lives with his in-laws. It shows a fire at the back part of the house on Fairway View Court in Duluth. He knew his house was on fire thanks to his toddler, Ben.
Morris said he knew lightning hit something, but he didn't realize it was their home.
"There was an explosion and I got shocked and it melted the corner of the TV," said Morris.
He thought maybe the satellite dish was hit and that was it. Morris said he and his son went upstairs to watch the storm.
"We're watching the storm and he pointed to the corner of the house and said, 'hot and hot,' and the roof was on fire," said Morris.
Morris rushed to call 911. Firefighters were able to take care of the flames. The house sustained damage to the roof and attic. Only a few of the family's possessions were damaged. No one was hurt.
