ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Frustrated residents in Peoplestown are still waiting for the city to clean up flooding in their neighborhood.
On Monday, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed will visit the neighborhood, tour
areas affected by flooding and listen to residents' concerns.
On Saturday, the city promised to help - free of charge.
Heavy rains on Friday overwhelmed the drainage system causing sewage to seep into their homes.
Residents said it happens every time it rains. Some residents are considering filing a lawsuit against the city.
"It's a horrible problem that has been going on for years and if the city could've fixed it, we certainly think they would've fixed it by now," said attorney Richard Kopelman. "If the city is unwilling to step up and do the right thing, we absolutely will go to court."
Reed issued a statement over the weekend that said the city plans to clean storm drains more often.
