PEACHTREE CITY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A woman came face-to-face with the barrel of a shotgun as two men tried to rob her inside her Woodland Drive home.
A shot rang out as CeCe Coffee tried to run from her house to call police.
Coffee said the two men entered her home through the open garage and unlocked kitchen door on a mission.
"One approached me on the side of the sofa and said to me he wanted my safe and my money," said Coffee.
The second man, who was armed with a shotgun, did not buy Coffee's story of not having a safe inside her home.
"The second one with the shotgun came over, he put a shotgun in my face and he told me, 'We weren't kidding. We were serious,'" said Coffee.
Coffee said the home invaders first tried beating her into submission, but she fought back.
When the gunman was distracted by her houseguest, she bolted out of a back door to run for help. That's when she was shot.
The bullet grazed her head. While bleeding, she continued to make her way through the woods behind her house to get help.
Amazingly, Coffee ended up with only six stitches. But she learned a big lesson she's willing to share about not leaving the door unlocked.
"They had perfect access. If they had to break a door down, I would have been able to get to a gun and protect myself and call 911," said Coffee.
No one else inside the home was injured.
Coffee said the men got away with a couple of cell phones.
Peachtree City Police are still looking for the two suspects. The men in their 20s were wearing bandanas and driving a dark-colored pickup truck.
