SANDY SPRINGS, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Police are investigating after a man driving a Porsche injured a construction worker in Sandy Springs.

It happened around 1 p.m. on Friday at Lake Forrest Drive and Long Island Drive.

Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose told CBS Atlanta News that the driver ran over the construction worker's foot as the construction worker flagged traffic.

Rose said the motorist, identified at Denis Reggie, was at the intersection in his car when the flagger, Peter Statia, signaled him to proceed.

Both men gave officers different accounts of the sequence of events.

Reggie told the officer that Statia charged his vehicle and as a result, he ran over the flagger's foot.

Statia told police that Reggie intentionally drove towards him, striking his arm and running over his foot.

No independent witnesses were at the scene.

Reggie was cited for hit-and-run and released at the scene.

Statia was cited for simple assault and was treated and released from St. Joseph's Hospital.
