COVINGTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The Covington Fire Department and hazmat crews responded to a hydrogen peroxide spill at a water treatment facility in Covington.
Just after 4 p.m., a forklift operator was unloading hydrogen peroxide containers when he lost control and spilled the containers.
One employee suffered burns to his ankles and feet.
The hydrogen peroxide is a 35 percent concentration.
Hazmat crews are watering it down so it can go into the retention pool outside the plant.
