GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The family of Nique Leili, whose body was found in the woods near her Lawrenceville home last July, is still waiting for police to make an arrest in the case.
"It's frustrating that no matter what, no matter who did it, somebody killed her and nobody's answering for it," said Amy Elk, Leili's sister.
Leili's husband Matt reported her missing July 11, 2010. He told police that the two had an argument and he slept in the home office the night before. When he woke up, he told authorities his wife was gone.
Friends and family launched an all-out search and found Nique's body several days later.
"It's been really, really hard," Elk said of the last year. "My sister was my best friend."
Police identified Matt Leili as a suspect shortly after his wife's body was discovered. One year later, they told CBS Atlanta they do no have enough evidence to charge him or anyone else.
"We have not charged him with anything," said Cpl. Jake Smith of Gwinnett County Police. "We have not restricted his movements in any way, nor have we been able to eliminate him from suspicion, so we do still consider him a suspect."
Matt Leili has refused to cooperate in the investigation and has since moved to Vermont with the couple's two young daughters.
Police have now assigned two new investigators to the case and said they are working new leads. They will not offer details in fear it will jeopardize their investigation.
"I love her and I miss her. She was my friend and she'll always be my friend," said Elk. "I mentioned that I was getting married next year. I'm not going to have a maid of honor because that was where she would have stood."
