KENNESAW, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Zaxby's is known for its chicken and apparently it's now known for its used cooking oil at one of their restaurants at 1640 Old Hwy. 41 in Kennesaw.
"Quite frankly I'm shocked. I'm very surprised," customer Juanita Carver said.
Management said they noticed two guys back their truck up to the grease trap two weeks in broad daylight and steal the oil. Police arrested Darrell Bassett and Geoffrey Jones for theft.
CBS Atlanta News tried to track down the thieves today and a woman at one home shut the door in our face.
"It takes a lot of nerve because I think others were happening at nighttime, so during the day means these guys have a lot of you know what," customer Scott Carver said.
Kennesaw police officer Scott Luther said it's a crime that has become more common. Investigators said the thieves re-sell the stolen grease to recycling companies and it's often used for biodiesel fuel.
"To catch somebody doing this is actually really good and it took somebody that was very alert and saw the suspicious activity," Officer Scott Luther with Kennesaw Police said.
