HAMPTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Raw sewage sometimes overflows out of manholes behind a home in Hampton.
David Wakefield's wants the city to put a stop to it.
How bad does it get?
"It's a fountain of poo," Wakefield said. "That's the best way to describe it."
Wakefield took a picture of the overflow. The latest one happened on Monday.
He said the City of Hampton has come out to put a stop to it, but hasn't done enough to prevent it from happening again.
"Yeah it's an easy fix, all they have to do is put a cage over the top of this to keep the kids from being able to get up in here," Wakefield said.
Both Wakefield and Hampton Public Works officials believe that people have been throwing objects down one of the manholes, blocking the pipes and causing the spills.
CBS Atlanta brought out Assistant Public Works Director Tommy Brown to the site.
"Kids have actually put stuff inside the manholes and blocked them up and a lot of times that's what you have to deal with," Brown said.
Brown said the city had welded the manhole covers before to prevent people from being able to throw anything down them.
"A couple of them, we've had to break the welds and go in there and do some service so we will get back out here and have that addressed," Brown said.
Brown said the fix should happen Thursday.
