New Alabama swimming coach Dennis Pursley has one final task before starting that job fulltime.
Pursley is leading Great Britain's team in the London Olympics before returning to the U.S., packing up and moving from Arizona in late August.
The 1972 Alabama graduate was hired by his alma mater in May. He says he wasn't sure he wanted to take that plunge right after the Olympics but "felt a real environment of optimism and excitement everywhere I saw in the athletic department."
Pursley spent 14 years as director of the United States' national team. He spoke to Alabama reporters on a conference call.
He says his immediate goal is for "the best Olympics that British swimming has ever seen." Then he wants to bring more talented swimmers to Tuscaloosa.
