SANDY SPRINGS, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Owners of El Azteca on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs are mopping up after lightning allegedly struck the restaurant, according to firefighters.

Fire Chief Jeff Scarborough said crews were called to the scene just after midnight Wednesday on a report of smoke coming from the peak of the building. Firefighters found smoke but no flames when they arrived.

The suspected lightning strike shorted out the electrical system and caused moderate damage to the roof and attic area of the building, Scarborough said.

The owners were there at the time, but it is unclear if the restaurant was open.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.

The restaurant hopes to reopen Wednesday night.
