COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A Monday night crash caused significant damage to a Cobb County road and resulted in headaches for commuters.
Officer Mike Bowman told CBS Atlanta News that a car struck a fire hydrant, creating a rupture in the water main. Because of the position of the vehicle, crews were unable to turn off the water right away.
The water pressure from the line severely damaged the road, causing parts of it to wash away. The Cobb County Water Department and the Department of Transportation have set up a road closure while repairs are being made, Bowman said.
Riverside Parkway is currently closed from south of I-20 to The Bluffs.
There were no injuries in the car crash, police said.
