Jury selection begins in Clayton County double shooting case

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Jury selection is set to start Monday in a Clayton County double shooting case.

According to reports On July 22, 2010 Cande Hope, 32, and nephew Darnell Alonzo Fields, 17, and his friend Caponetti Faulkner, 22, were walking in the wood line adjacent to Faith Cove headed to a pool.

Witnesses said five men were standing on the side of a nearby house when a fight started between Fields and 32-year-old Tyrone Terek Patterson.

Police said Patterson fired several rounds into the woods where Hope, Fields, and Faulkner were walking.

Hope was shot in her left calf and Fields was shot in the chest. Hope was taken to the hospital but Fields died on scene.

Patterson is charged with two counts of murder, according to the Clayton County Sherriff's office.

He was taken into custody Aug. 15, 2010.

Opening statements in the case could start Monday afternoon.
