ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A 9-year-old boy is recovering after being hit by a car in Northwest Atlanta that drove off without stopping to help.
The boy, Jabari Searcy, had words for that driver on Tuesday.
"I hope you feel guilt and you need to turn yourself in," Searcy said. "I feel angry because she didn't care enough to see if I was OK."
The boy managed to walk away with no broken bones. He has scrapes all over his body and broken front teeth.
His mother, Kimberly Winston, who was crossing the street in front of him at the time of the accident, is thankful he's alive.
"It makes me really upset that somebody is so heartless and hateful to do something like that to hit somebody, let alone a child, and keep going with no remorse," Winston said. "I don't know what kind of person that is but she definitely needs to be caught and charged."
Several witnesses including Ahmed Nicklaw, tried to run after the car to get information. Police said the car is a 2002 green Mazda with four doors and Georgia plates that partially say FG41.
"She drove off really fast, was running red lights, I couldn't keep up with her," Ahmed said.
Ahmed said there's no way the driver didn't know she hit someone.
"She knew, for sure. How could you not know?" Ahmed asked. "The boy was on the hood of her car."
