ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Jim Kelly cast his ballot on the first day of early voting in metro Atlanta on Monday. He wanted to avoid Election Day chaos.
"Hopefully people who have received new instructions care enough about the process that they'll actually read them and what it is they have to do," early voter Jim Kelly said.
Some voters will be required to vote at a different polling place on July 31 because of redistricting in the legislature. Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp says that may cause some confusion.
"Every now and then you're going to have a voter or two that gets the wrong card or they got put in the wrong district by mistake and maybe there was another card mailed out to correct that," Kemp said.
To avoid Election Day drama, Kemp recommends you visit the MVP or "My Voter Page" on the secretary of state's website: Click here to see the voter page.
"You click the MVP button and then you simply put in your first initial, last name, your date of birth and the county where you are registered to vote and it will pull up all your individualized voting information," Kemp said.
Kemp said you can print out a sample ballot and even find the address to your polling place so you're better prepared on Election Day.
"As we all know voting and voting processes are very much at the forefront of political debates now, so hopefully the secretary of state has done what he needs to do to make sure all these systems run smoothly because it's imperative people not be confused about what's happening," Kelly said.
