Long lines continue at Georgia DMV

Posted: Updated:

If you have to go to the DMV anytime soon, be prepared to wait in line up to three hours to get your documents.

The average wait time was two hours at the DMV in Marietta.

Kent Wolf only wanted to renew his license but it took him two hours.

"I thought I would come down here and take 10 to 15 minutes," a frustrated Wolf said.

After his wait Wolf learned a hard lesson when he only received a temporary license that's good for 120 days. That's because he didn't have the proper paperwork.

A DMV spokesperson tells CBS Atlanta that it's drivers like Wolf who show up without the proper papers who are causing the delays.

The DMV is requiring drivers to bring a birth certificate or passport, two proofs of where you live, and social security documentation.
