Man arrested in fatal Duluth hotel shooting

DULUTH, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Gwinnett County Homicide Unit is currently investigating a double shooting at Suburban Extended Stay Hotel located at 2350 Stephens Center Dr.

Police say on Thursday one person died in the shooting and another person was injured.

On scene, officers discovered two victims, each suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Rashanda Patterson, 36, died on scene and Joseph Emener, 36, was taken to the hospital.

Officers found the armed suspect who was later identified as James Clay, 24, walking through a nearby apartment complex.

Clay was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

This investigation continues as police search for a motive.
